The most successful designs just naturally welcome you in, and this basement bar is no exception. It’s the kind of place that quietly suggests you should take your time, a place where you actually want to be late to wherever you’re going next.
Conceptually, this remodel reflects a unique fusion: dark and moody meets welcoming family gathering space.
The bar area features a sleek, monochromatic look, utilizing both black-painted and black-stained cabinetry for textural variation. Leathered countertops add even more texture, and a lighted bar mirror gives the space a sense of style and sophistication.
The wet bar includes a sink and mini-fridge, which makes it easy to serve up everyone’s favorite beverage. Three high-top chairs let you pull up to the bar, but the bar also opens up into an inviting space with ample seating.
Compared to the lustrous look of the bar, the rest of the basement has a cozy feel that’s perfect for kicking back solo or as a family. Exposed brick, natural hardwood floors, exposed wood beams, and warm light from wall sconces all generate a look that is both refined and comfortable.
As an added bonus, we designed a back room that is exactly that - the room behind the bar. It includes a large fridge, a wine rack, and plenty of countertop space and storage. It’s an ideal spot for keeping nice bottles of wine and an extra case of beer, so the main bar stays uncluttered.
In the past, basement remodels were often seen as little more than basement finishing and possibly adding a guest room. Today, we’re seeing more and more homeowners who want their basement to truly upgrade their home and quality of life.
This remodel is a perfect example of this growing trend. Thanks to a stylish basement bar and a classic gathering space, stepping into this basement is the perfect way to leave the noise of the day behind.
