Sometimes a bathroom is just a bathroom. Other times, a bathroom is something much, much more. For this project in greater Des Moines, the bathroom is actually multiple rooms that come together to create a cohesive, functional, and stunning space.
This family wanted to remodel their bathroom to stand out truly, and we at Compelling Homes took that as a challenge. The result is a space with a luxury shower and tub, an adjacent room with stylish double vanities, and custom walk-in closets. Throughout the space, heated tile and LVP flooring keep things cozy even on the coldest winter days.
The zero-entry shower and freestanding tub are located furthest from the primary bedroom. Pebble tile serves as the floor for both the shower and the tub, which is made of luxe dark concrete.
Up-lighting in the floor draws extra attention to the bathtub, which has an adjacent floor-mounted tub filler. The tub surround includes a robe hook and a niche (with a pebble tile backsplash) to hold key accessories. The space feels fresher and brighter thanks to plentiful natural light and carefully selected houseplants.
From there, you walk into a fully decked-out space to get ready for the day. Double vanities are located on either side of the door and are brightened up by direct and indirect lighting against the mirrors. Waterfall countertops provide an elegant contrast with royal blue drawers and cabinets.
An innovative aspect of these vanities is that they wrap around the corners, providing extra counter space and storage as well as a seated area with a dedicated makeup mirror.
In each vanity, concrete sinks with gold hardware match the design of the bathtub and tub filler.
Heading toward the bedroom, you enter into the spacious walk-in closets. This custom-designed grand closet system provides ideal storage that suits our clients’ wardrobe, including floor-to-ceiling racks to hold shoes for every occasion.
All of the elements of this bathroom come together to create a stylish, spa-like retreat. Each space optimizes both functionality and aesthetics, creating an ideal en-suite bathroom and a private oasis.
